True North Winter (truenorthwinter.ca) is a reader-supported website. We want you to know exactly how we make money, so you can decide how much weight to give our recommendations.
The short version
Some links on this website are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This doesn’t change the price you pay.
Amazon Associates
True North Winter is a participant in the Amazon.ca Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.ca.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Other affiliate programs
We may also take part in affiliate programs run by other Canadian retailers and networks, which may include retailers such as Home Depot Canada and Canadian Tire. When you buy through those links, we may earn a commission in the same way. We’ll keep this page updated as our partnerships change.
Where you’ll see disclosures
In line with the Competition Bureau of Canada’s guidance on disclosing material connections in online marketing, we aim to make our relationships clear, prominent and easy to understand:
- Every guide that contains affiliate links starts with a short disclosure at the top of the article, before any affiliate links.
- We use plain language (“we may earn a commission”) rather than vague terms or hashtags.
- This full disclosure page is linked from the footer of every page and from each article’s disclosure line.
How we keep our recommendations independent
- Brands and retailers don’t pay to be included in our guides or to get a higher ranking.
- Commission rates don’t decide our picks. We choose products based on our research into features, specifications, availability in Canada, warranty and value.
- We’re honest about how we research. Our guides are research-based roundups compiled from manufacturer specifications, retailer listings and public guidance. Unless an article clearly says otherwise, we haven’t personally tested the products, and we won’t claim we have.
- We don’t invent reviews, ratings or specs.
- If we ever receive a free product, sponsorship or other benefit related to something we write about, we’ll disclose it clearly in that article.
Prices and availability
Prices are listed in Canadian dollars and are approximate at the time of writing. Prices and availability change often and may vary by province, store and promotion. Always check the retailer’s website for current details before you buy.
